Buenos Aires, the capital city of Buenos Aires, is well worth a few days' visit.

Today we didn't get up too early, we had breakfast and went out to take the pulse of the city. First of all we looked for Mafalda, there is a sculpture of the mythical Mafalda sitting on a bench in the San Telmo neighborhood and we went to portray her.

We are walking towards what is known as the Microcentro, where business and commercial activity is concentrated.

We arrived at the Plaza de Mayo, located between the Casa Rosada, the Cabildo and the Cathedral. In the Plaza de Mayo the Mothers are still concentrating in their protest so that the Government recognizes its responsibility for the disappearances during the military dictatorship. The Banco de la Nación building is also noteworthy.

We approached the Galerías Pacífico, a huge shopping center with vaulted ceilings and decorated with paintings. A lot of people crowded the streets. We enjoyed a couple dancing tango.

We reach the Avenida de 9 de Julio, the avenue with the most lanes in the whole country, and go down to the Obelisk.

We are approaching the bookstore El Ateneo, an old theatre-cafeteria in the Avenida Sant Fé 1860. It's really worth it.

It's funny because there are huge and modern avenues and the surrounding streets are all the cables thrown and people searching in the garbage containers.

We spent the afternoon in Recoletas and Barrio Norte. It is the most luxurious neighborhood in the capital, the most important mansions are concentrated in Alvear Avenue. We approach its famous cemetery. It is immense.

It's a little strange to do tourism in a cemetery, we are not too long. We go to the Palermo neighborhood where the middle class lives, we wander around its streets.

We take a taxi and go to C/ Murillo, we want to buy leather goods (our friends in Cafayate have recommended it to us). It's funny because all the shops are closed. They tell us there has been a blackout but they still attend to us. After buying some gifts we go back to San Telmo to have dinner in a steak house.
