Argentina day 6: Perito Moreno.

We got up early and had breakfast at the hostel. Today is a very exciting day we go to Perito Moreno. We have hired a tour with the hostel that includes transportation to the Glacier National Park, boat to the glacier, trekking on Perito Moreno and return to Calafate.

It's raining at dawn, when we arrive at the Park it's still sparkling but still the Perito Moreno glacier impresses. In the Peninsula de Magallanes some wooden footbridges allow you to get in front of the glacier, the views are wonderful.

The glacier is in constant movement and you can hear it creaking. Icebergs are falling every few days in the so-called Canal de los Témpanos.

Although most glaciers are retreating, the Perito Moreno is considered stable. They say it advances up to two metres a day.

An hour later we get on a boat that takes us to the left side of the glacier, there we put on our crampons and do a one hour walk over the glacier.

It is indescribable the beauty of the place, the change in the color of the water, the sounds... As a final touch, a whisky on the rocks with glacial ice and an alfajor. A visit is a must.
