Colombia day 13: Sapzurro and La Miel.

Submitted by maria on Thu, 20/09/2018 - 20:23

It's been raining all night and our plans to go to Sapzurro and La Miel walk are shaky. We are going to have breakfast at Noah's Ark, a very nice local restaurant, Colombian breakfast, the coastal cheese is very salty, the rest is very tasty.

Capurganá

Finally the rain stops and in our lodging we start the way to Sapzurro, it is a walk through the jungle, comfortable shoes are a must.

It is a pleasure to feel in such a leafy and green forest. Of course, the humidity is very high. One sweats a lot.

You have to carry enough water. We see howler monkeys, lizards, birds, spiders, a green snake,... It takes us an hour and a half to do the tour, it's worth it and there are no complications. There is a lookout point halfway up and the views are incredible.

Sapzurro

Sapzurro is quite clean, it is a more idyllic village than Capurganá. Smaller, with less services.

We had a beer and bought water at the pier, some snacks, some chocolates and empanadas.

From Sapzurro it was only a 15 minute walk to the Panamanian village of La Miel. We continue to enjoy the jungle. At the top the border is established, there are two soldiers and one of them asks for our passport. After the check we go down to the village and 5 minutes later we are on one of the most idyllic beaches in the area. Cerulean waters, white sand, coconut trees.. It's really worth it.

There is a duty free on the beach, as it is low season there is no chiringito open.

We go back by boat.

On the way back to Capurganá we take a bath on the beach. Afterwards we go out for dinner to a restaurant that is worth a visit, the Tipik-Tropik, it is located in the square where the football field and its lentil burgers, juices and crepes are impressive.
